SPECIAL NOTE: The Sim-U-Kraft Mod uses and needs Forge Universal to run.
Visit the Sim-U-Kraft web site to download Forge. Without Forge, Sim-U-Kraft will NOT work. Here's an video demonstrating how to install Forge on Windows. Installing on a Mac is pretty much the same.

Check Minecraft still works after installing Forge. Next, you need to download the latest version of the mod. To download the Sim-U-Kraft mod, go to this website: Sim-U-Kraft Download. You will see the download link about halfway down the page. It is a “.zip” file, which means that it contains more than one file and is compressed. You will need a type of “unzipping” program to extract, or uncompress the files. The easiest one to use is WinRAR. WinRAR will be the program used for the instructions and examples.
Apple Mac users: you can already unzip files, so don't need an unzipping program.

Opening The Zip File

The easiest way to work with this mod is to download it straight to your Desktop. From there, just double-click the .zip file. This will open a window in WinRAR like the one above.
You will notice three things inside the window; A folder with “…”, another folder called “Simukraft”, and another zipped file called “Sim-U-Kraft-0.3.1.zip”. The “…” folder is not really a folder. It is just a link go back to the previous “page”. The other two are the actual files in the zip. The fastest and easiest way to extract a zip file is to just click the “Extract To” button in the top left corner.
Another small window will open up waiting for you to choose a location. The default location WinRAR will extract is always the same place the original zip file was opened. In this case, it is your Desktop. Just click on “OK” and allow the program to do the work.
Once extracted, it creates a folder on your Desktop. Open this folder to get to the Mod’s files. The two files inside this folder are all you need to install Sim-U-Kraft. The next step is to navigate to your Minecraft program folder and place those two files inside.

Installing The Mod

Sim-U-Kraft is one of the easy Mods to install. There is no need to alter the Minecraft.jar file or delete any files from the Minecraft folders. It is simply a ‘cut and paste’ installation. You should still have the Simukraft folder open where you just downloaded and unzipped the zip file. Leave it open and navigate to your Minecraft folders by following the simple steps below.

Windows:
  1. Click “Start” in the bottom left corner of your toolbar.
  2. Click “Run…”. (If “Run…” is not in your Start Menu, see the special note below.)
  3. Type %appdata% and press “Enter” (or click “OK”.)
  4. Double-Click the “.minecraft” folder.
  5. Double-Click the “mods” folder.

Apple Mac:
  1. Open a finder window.
  2. Press Shift-Command-G and in the box provided, paste this: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/mods/

Windows:
Now, go back to the Sim-U-Kraft window that has the unzipped files. Press and hold the “Ctrl” key and push the “A” key. This selects both items. Next, right-click on one of them and choose “Cut”. Go back to the .minecraft > mods folder. Right-click inside the folder window and choose “Paste”.

Apple Mac:
Copy the file you downloaded into this window and double click it to unpack it. Now delete the original file you downloaded, so you're left with one zip file and one folder called 'Simukraft'.

Windows & Mac:
Once the file and folder are moved, close all open windows. Start Minecraft to see if Sim-U-Kraft works. You can start a new world or open an existing one. Either way, if you installed the files correctly, you will hear a female voice say, “Welcome to Sim-U-Kraft.” You will also see words in the upper-left corner of the screen that shows the map name, population, and how many credits you have. (You begin with 10.00 credits.)
Congratulations! You now have Sim-U-Folks to take care of!
